As reported by Atrur Chilingarov, a Special Representative of the Russian President for International Co-operation in the Arctic and the Antarctic, at the Arctic Council Meeting, the volume of cargo shipped along the Northern Sea Route (NSR) is expected to break a record in 2017.
“Christophe de Margerie” Russian LNG tanker is the first commercial ship, which has completed its voyage through the Northern Sea Route without ice-routing services. The trip from Cape Zhelaniya in Novaya Zemlya archipelago to Cape Dezhnev in Chukotka lasted only six and half days.
According to Atomflot press centre, on July 19 “Taimyr” nuclear-powered icebreaker successfully completed the escort of two vessels’ convoy towards Sabetta port.
